Mechanical Christianity- “A Pride Problem” James 3:13-18

In his classic, Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis said,

“Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man… It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone.”

This week in our ‪#‎MechanicalChristianity‬ series, we’ll be looking at James 3:13-18, “A Pride Problem”. Pride is a dangerous, worldly attitude that often goes undetected… OH but the damage it can do! How do you view your works before God? Do you display your good works so that others may sing YOUR praise? Are you doing “good” things just so others will think “good” of YOU? If so, you might be struggling with a Christianity that is mechanical. Pride is dangerous! It’s destructive! It’s like CO (Carbon Monoxide), without oxygen, the fire goes out. Don’t hinder others from glorifying God because your pride is preventing them from seeing the light!
