What do you treasure? As pastors, we often talk about “laying up treasures in heaven or where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”… but what do you REALLY treasure? Growing up, the things we thought were important turned out to be pretty lame. The things we thought were pretty lame turns out that they’re really important. For example…as kids, we hated taking family pictures… as adults, we cherish those same pictures so much that we are willing to risk life and limb to rescue them from burning buildings or raging flood waters. As kids, we loved our toys… as adults, we realized that the toys were just a gesture of love from those who were really important to us. All people at some point in their lives realize that material things hold no real value. It’s people that we cherish…. that really matter… relationships that we treasure. So what does God really treasure?
Just keep this in mind, Jesus said in John 14…
“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
