Harry Emerson Fosdick once said,
“No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined.”
No one likes to hear that word, that ugly word “discipline”. Watching the Olympic games this week gives new meaning to the word itself. If you want to win gold, you must be disciplined. It is a known fact that Simone Biles, 2016 Gold Medalist in the Rio Olympic Games, spends upwards of 50+ hours per week in the gym. Why? Because she wants to represent her country well… and that she did! In this week’s #Psalm23Series message we will look at Psalm 23:4b, “The Delight Of Discipline”… I know, sounds like an oxymoron right? The root word for “discipline” is “disciple”, it’s from the Latin word “discipulus” meaning “pupil”. The biblical discipline that results in true discipleship is a beautiful thing!
