As we take a look at what the Bible says about Heaven over the next few weeks, I’m reminded of a question posed by John Piper. He asked,
“Would you be satisfied with going to Heaven if Jesus wasn’t there?”
Ponder that for a moment. There are a number of misconceptions about Heaven. Commercials often depict Heaven as a place where its winged inhabitants float around on clouds playing harps. Even atheists like to chime in. Friedrich Nietzsche said, “In Heaven, all of the interesting people are missing.” Mark Twain is another one of whom the atheists like to claim as one of their very own, but clearly he was a Deist. He said, “Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.” It seems like everyone likes to form their own opinion about Heaven and their opinions often lead to misconceptions of what eternity will be like in Heaven. This Sunday in our #AFTERLIFE series, we’ll be looking at part 2 of “Five Misconceptions About Heaven”.
